Jef Aerts (born on May 26, 1972) is a writer from Belgium. He writes exciting books for children and young people.

Life and Career

Jef Aerts first wrote novels, poems, and plays for adults. Since 2012, he has focused on writing for young readers.

He worked with illustrator Marit Törnqvist on the picture book Bigger than a Dream. This book won the Book Lion (Boekenleeuw) award in 2014. This award is for the best Dutch-language children's book.

Jef Aerts has won three Zilveren Griffel awards. These are important prizes for children's books. He won them for Bigger than a Dream, Fish don’t Melt, and The Blue Wings. Martijn van der Linden illustrated The Blue Wings.

His books for children and young people are very popular. They have been translated into 15 different languages. These include English, German, Swedish, and Chinese.

Jef Aerts lives and writes on a small farm. His farm is located near the city of Leuven.
