Jelle Vossen (born on March 22, 1989) is a professional football player from Belgium. He plays as a striker, which means he's usually focused on scoring goals for his team. Jelle currently plays for the club Zulte Waregem in the Belgian First Division A.

Club Career

Playing for Genk

Jelle Vossen started his professional career at Genk. In August 2009, he was loaned to Cercle Brugge for a short time. This was part of a deal where other players also moved between the clubs. After his loan, Jelle returned to Genk in the summer of 2010. He played many games and scored lots of goals for Genk.

Time at Middlesbrough

On September 1, 2014, Jelle moved to England to play for Middlesbrough. He joined them on a loan deal for the whole season. Middlesbrough is a club in the English Championship, which is a league below the top one.

Jelle played his first game for Middlesbrough on September 13, 2014. He came on as a substitute in a 2–1 win against Huddersfield Town. He scored his first goals for the team by getting a hat-trick (three goals in one game) in a big 5–1 win against Millwall.

Moving to Burnley

On July 6, 2015, Jelle Vossen signed a three-year contract with Burnley. This was another English Championship club. He made his debut for Burnley on August 8, 2015, in a 1–1 draw against Leeds United.

Joining Club Brugge

Even though he had just joined Burnley, Jelle Vossen moved back to Belgium very quickly. On August 30, 2015, he signed a five-year contract with Club Brugge.

On September 23, 2016, Jelle scored his 100th goal in the Belgian Pro League while playing for Club Brugge. This was a big achievement for him.

Playing for Zulte Waregem

Jelle Vossen joined Zulte Waregem on January 30, 2020. He signed a contract for three and a half years. On March 13, 2022, he scored his 150th goal in the Belgian Pro League. This goal was a penalty kick against Eupen. This amazing goal also meant he became one of the top ten goal scorers in the history of the Belgian top division since 1974.

Zulte Waregem was relegated from the top division. However, Jelle played a very important role in helping them get promoted back to the top division during the 2024–25 season. He was the top scorer in the league with 15 goals. He also extended his contract with the club until 2026.

International Career

Jelle Vossen has also played for the Belgian national team. He was called up for matches against Chile and Japan. From 2010 onwards, he was often chosen to play for the national team alongside his teammate from Genk, Marvin Ogunjimi. On October 12, 2010, Jelle scored his first goal for Belgium. It was in a 4–4 draw against Austria during a qualifying game for the Euro 2012 tournament. He scored another goal for Belgium on March 29, 2011, against Azerbaijan.
