Jerel's Early Basketball Journey
Jerel Blassingame started playing basketball in high school in Brooklyn, New York. After high school, he went to Los Angeles City College.
Winning a State Championship
At Los Angeles City College, Jerel helped his team win a big championship. They became the California state champions in 2002–2003. Jerel was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of that state tournament! This means he was the best player in the whole competition.
Playing for UNLV
Later, Jerel moved to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He continued to play basketball there. In his junior year (2003–2004), he scored about 11.2 points and made 6.6 assists per game. An assist is when a player passes the ball to a teammate who then scores. In his senior year, he averaged 8.9 points and 5.5 assists per game.
Jerel's Professional Career
After college, Jerel Blassingame became a professional basketball player. He played for many different teams in several countries around the world.
Starting in Europe
Jerel began his professional career playing for teams in places like Cyprus, Greece, and Sweden. He played for ENAD in Cyprus and AEK Athens in Greece. Then, he joined the Solna Vikings in Sweden.
Playing in Israel and Ukraine
Before going to Finland, Jerel played for Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Israeli League. In the 2009–2010 season, he was the main point guard for BC Odesa in Ukraine.
Success in Poland and Croatia
Jerel became a very important player for Energa Czarni Słupsk in Poland during the 2010–2011 season. His team was a top team in the Polish Basket League. He averaged 12.4 points and 6.2 assists per game.
In 2011, he signed with Asseco Prokom Gdynia, another Polish team. After playing in Poland for a while, Jerel moved to Croatia. He joined Cibona Zagreb and helped them win the Adriatic League title in the 2013–2014 season. This was a big win for his team!
Returning to Poland and Greece
In December 2014, Jerel returned to Energa Czarni Słupsk in Poland. He played there until January 2017. Soon after, he went back to Greece and signed with Promitheas Patras.
Playing in France
After his time in Greece, Jerel played for the Antibes Sharks in France from 2017 to 2018. He then joined Élan Béarnais, another French team, from 2018 to 2019.
Current Team
Since 2021, Jerel Blassingame has been playing for AIK Basket in the Superettan league in Sweden.
