Jermaine Jones (born November 3, 1986) is an American singer and actor. He is from Pine Hill, New Jersey. He became well-known after appearing on the eleventh season of American Idol. He finished in twelfth place on the show.

Early Life
Jermaine Jones was born on November 3, 1986. His mother is Katrice Cornett. He grew up in Pine Hill, New Jersey. He went to Overbrook High School. Before becoming famous, he worked as a vocal instructor, teaching others how to sing. His mother and the singer John Legend were big musical inspirations for him.

The Journey to the Top 13
During the Las Vegas round of American Idol, Jermaine sang "Make it Easy on Yourself" with another contestant, Richie Law. Both of them moved forward in the competition.
Jermaine was not first chosen for the top 24 semi-finalists. But he got a special call back! This made him the 25th semi-finalist. He was also the thirteenth male semi-finalist. Jermaine is very tall, standing at 6 feet 8 and a half inches. Because of his height, people on the show called him "The Gentle Giant."
In the semi-finals, he sang "Dance with My Father" by Luther Vandross. He was one of the top five male singers who got the most votes. This helped him move on to the top 13.
An Unexpected End
On March 13, 2012, something unexpected happened. Jermaine Jones was disqualified from the competition. This meant he could no longer be part of American Idol. He was disqualified because he had not shared some important information about his past with the show's producers. This was a rule of the competition.
Because of this, Jermaine could not perform his next song, "Somewhere Out There." A short clip of his rehearsal was shown after he left the show. He also could not join the other finalists in the live finale.

The movie will star Jeremiah Trotter. Jermaine also shared on his Twitter account that he planned to audition for another singing competition show, The Voice.
