Early Career and Loans
Jerome showed leadership skills early on. He was the captain for Fulham's Under-23 team at the end of the 2018–19 season.
In September 2019, Jerome joined Accrington Stanley on a temporary move called a "loan." This helped him get experience playing with the main team. He played his first game for Accrington on September 7, 2019, in a 3–3 draw against Bristol Rovers. After a game where his team lost, he said he was ready to play wherever his coach needed him.
In September 2020, Jerome went on another loan. This time, he joined League One team Plymouth Argyle until January.
In July 2021, Jerome was loaned out again. He moved to Danish Superliga club Vejle Boldklub for the whole 2021–22 season.
Moving to Portugal and Turkey
In June 2022, Jerome joined the Portuguese team Arouca. He signed a three-year contract with them. This was a free transfer, meaning Arouca did not have to pay a fee to Fulham for him.
In September 2023, Jerome signed a new contract with Arouca, extending it until 2026. Right after that, he was loaned to the Turkish club İstanbul Başakşehir for the rest of the season. He officially joined İstanbul Başakşehir permanently in 2024.
Playing for Ghana
Jerome Opoku was born in England, but his family comes from Ghana. This means he can play for the Ghana national team. He made his first appearance for Ghana on October 18, 2023. This was in a friendly match against the United States national team, which Ghana lost.
