Jerry Hardin (born November 20, 1929) is an American actor. He has appeared in many movies and TV shows. You might know him as the character nicknamed ... from the TV show The X-Files. He also appeared in popular shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Golden Girls.

Early Life and Learning

Jerry Hardin was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 20, 1929. His dad was a rancher. When Jerry was young, he was very active in his church. He also loved performing in school plays.

He went to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, on a scholarship. After that, he studied acting in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He earned another scholarship to study there through the Fulbright Program.

Jerry lived in London for several years. Then, he came back to the United States. He started acting in New York and worked in regional theaters for 12 years.

His Acting Career

Jerry Hardin started acting on television in the 1950s. He often played "character roles." These are roles where an actor plays a unique or unusual person, not usually the main hero.

By the early 1990s, he had been in over 100 movies and TV shows. He also performed in more than 75 plays by the early 1960s.

Some of his TV appearances include the western series Sara, The Rockford Files, Family Ties, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He was also in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and Sliders.

Jerry Hardin appeared in many films too. These include Cujo (1983), Big Trouble in Little China (1986), Wanted: Dead or Alive (1987), and The Firm (1993).

He had a special role in Roots: The Gift. In this show, he acted alongside five other actors who later became famous in Star Trek shows. These included LeVar Burton, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, and Tim Russ. Jerry Hardin played memorable guest roles in Star Trek. He was Radue in "When the Bough Breaks" and Samuel Clemens in "Time's Arrow" on Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also played Neria in "Emanations" on Star Trek: Voyager.

His Family Life

Jerry Hardin is married and has two children. His wife, Diane, is an acting coach.

Even though Jerry said he tried to stop his own children from becoming actors, his daughter, Melora Hardin, is also an actress. She is known for playing Trudy Monk in Monk and Jan Levinson in The Office. His son, Shawn Hardin, worked for the TV studio NBC.
