Jerrys Plains is a small village located in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. It's about 33 kilometres west of a bigger town called Singleton, right along the Golden Highway. This area is famous for a few things: huge horse-breeding farms, like the Australian part of Coolmore Stud (which is a very famous horse farm from Ireland), growing grapes for wine (this is called viticulture), and also coal mining.

Jerrys Plains is a quiet place with a friendly community. Even though it's a small village, it has some important services and landmarks that make it special.

Jerrys Plains School

The local school, Jerrys Plains Public School, first opened its doors a long time ago in January 1881. In 2018, about 40 students were learning there. It's a place where kids from the village and nearby areas can get their education.

Village Post Office

The Jerrys Plains Post Office started operating way back in 1837. While it's not open anymore, the building where it used to be later became a place for visitors to find information about the area.

St James Anglican Church

The village has a historic church called St James Anglican Church. It was designed by a famous architect named John Horbury Hunt in the 1870s. This beautiful old church still holds services once a month, usually on the second Sunday.

Local Hotels

Jerrys Plains has a hotel called the Jerrys Plains Tavern, which is located on the Golden Highway. Before this, there was another hotel, the Post Office Hotel, which sadly burned down in December 1947. It was not rebuilt, and eventually, its license was removed in 1953.

According to the 2016 Census, there were 385 people living in Jerrys Plains. Most people, about 68.8%, were born in Australia. Also, a large number of residents, about 86.5%, spoke only English at home. When it came to religion, the most common groups were Anglican (30.1%) and Catholic (27.4%).
