Jersey is a small community located in Licking County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population and other statistics, but it doesn't have its own separate city or town government.
How Jersey Began
Jersey was first planned out in the year 1832. It got its name from Jersey Township, which is the larger area it is a part of. An important part of any community back then was a post office. Jersey opened its own post office in 1833. This post office helped people send and receive letters until it closed in 1907.
