Jeux d'enfants facts for kids
Jeux d'enfants (which means Children's Games in English) is a collection of 12 short musical pieces. These pieces were written by the famous French composer Georges Bizet. They are designed to be played by two people on one piano at the same time. This is called a duet.
Bizet published this set of music in 1871. Each piece in the collection describes different children's toys or games. It's like musical pictures of kids playing! Later, some of these pieces were arranged for a full orchestra, which means they could be played by many different instruments.
A famous choreographer named George Balanchine used this music for two of his ballets. In 1955, he created a ballet using all 12 pieces. Then, in 1975, he used a few of the pieces for another ballet called The Steadfast Tin Soldier.
