James Mark Bradfield (born 30 July 1933 – died 19 November 1989) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sydney and worked as a company manager. Before becoming a politician, he also served in the military in 1951.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
In 1975, James Bradfield was elected to the Australian House of Representatives. This is one of the two main parts of the Australian Parliament, where elected representatives make laws for the country. He became a member for the area called Barton. He was part of the Liberal Party of Australia, which is one of Australia's major political parties.
Time in Government
James Bradfield held his seat in Parliament for several years. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) during the time when Malcolm Fraser was the Prime Minister of Australia. This period is often called the "Fraser government." As an MP, his job was to represent the people living in the Barton area and help make decisions for the country.
Later Life and Legacy
In 1983, James Bradfield was not re-elected. He was defeated by Gary Punch. He tried again to win back his seat in 1984 but was unsuccessful. James Bradfield passed away in 1989.
