James "Jim" Diamond (born 28 September 1951 – died 8 October 2015) was a Scottish singer and songwriter. He was famous for his powerful voice and for having three songs that became big hits.
One of his first big songs was "I Won't Let You Down" in 1982. He sang this song as the lead singer for a music group called PhD. The group was a trio, meaning it had three members: Jim Diamond, Tony Hymas, and Simon Phillips.
Later, Jim Diamond had a huge solo hit song called "I Should Have Known Better". This song became number one in the United Kingdom in 1984.
Jim Diamond passed away in his sleep in London when he was 64 years old. This sad news was shared by BBC News on 10 October 2015.
