James Albert "Jimmy" Creighton (born November 18, 1905 – died May 29, 1990) was a Canadian ice hockey player and a politician. He was born in Brandon, Manitoba, and later became a leader in his community.

Jimmy Creighton's Hockey Days
Jimmy Creighton loved ice hockey. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Detroit Falcons team in 1931. He played 11 games and scored one goal. After playing, he became a professional hockey referee. This meant he helped make sure games were fair and followed the rules.
Becoming a Community Leader
Jimmy Creighton was also very involved in his hometown of Brandon, Manitoba. He worked as an alderman, which is like a city council member, in 1946, 1948, and 1949. An alderman helps make decisions about how the city is run.
Mayor of Brandon
Later, Jimmy Creighton became the mayor of Brandon. He served as mayor for two terms: from 1952 to 1955, and again from 1958 to 1961. As mayor, he was the main leader of the city government.
Running for Elections
Jimmy Creighton also tried to become a politician at a higher level.
Provincial Elections
In 1953, he ran in the provincial election for Manitoba. He was a candidate for the Liberal-Progressive party. He wanted to represent the area called Brandon City. However, he lost to another candidate named Reginald Lissaman.
Federal Elections
Later in 1953, Jimmy Creighton ran in a federal election. This meant he wanted to be part of the Canadian House of Commons, which is where laws are made for the whole country. He ran as a Liberal candidate for the Brandon—Souris area. He came in second place in that election. He tried to win a seat in the Manitoba legislature again in 1962, but he lost to Reginald Lissaman once more.
Later Life
In his later years, Jimmy Creighton became ill with Parkinson's disease. He passed away in 1990.
