Jin Jun Mei tea is grown in Fujian province, China

Jinjunmei (金駿眉) is a very special and famous black tea from China. It comes from the beautiful Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province. This tea is made only from tiny buds picked early in spring.

After picking, these buds are carefully processed. They are fully oxidized, which means they are exposed to air. Then, they are roasted. This process gives Jinjunmei its unique taste. It tastes sweet and fruity, almost like flowers. The sweet flavor stays in your mouth for a long time after you drink it. When you brew it, the tea looks a bright reddish color. Jinjunmei is known as a very high-quality black tea from Fujian. It is also one of the most expensive black teas in China today.

How Jinjunmei Tea Started

In 2005, some tea lovers from Beijing visited a place called Tongmu Village. They had an idea to make a super high-grade Zhengshan Xiaozhong black tea using only the best buds.

In the same year, Jinjunmei tea was created for the first time. It was developed by Jiang Yuanxun, who leads the Wuyi Mountains Zhengshan Tea Industry in Fujian. He worked with his team of expert tea makers, led by a master named Liang Junde. Jinjunmei uses the same traditional methods as Zhengshan Xiaozhong tea. The main difference is that it only uses fresh, young buds from Tongmu Village.

What Jinjunmei Tastes Like

This tea has a wonderfully sweet taste. It's also very strong and can be brewed many times. You can brew Jinjunmei up to 12 times, and it will still taste full and sweet. This makes it a very special and enjoyable tea to drink.
