Jirayu Tangsrisuk facts for kids
Jirayu Tangsrisuk (Thai: จิรายุ ตั้งศรีสุข), born on September 19, 1993, is a famous Thai actor, singer, and model. Many people know him as James Jirayu or James Ji.
He became very popular for his roles in TV dramas like Suphapburut Juthathep (2013), The One in My Heart (2015), and Repercussion (2019). He has also starred in movies such as Timeline (2014).
Early Life and Education
James Jirayu was born in Phichit, Thailand. He is the youngest child in his family. His parents are Sermchai and Shotika Tangsrisuk. He has an older sister, Dr. Jularat Tangsrisuk.
His parents gave him the nickname "James" because they liked the James Bond movies.
School Days and Hobbies
James went to Wachira Kindergarten for junior high school. Then, he attended Phichit Phitthakhom School for high school. During this time, he was also a territorial defense student.
From a young age, James loved to dance and sing. He even played bass guitar in his own band during high school. He was a shy kid and didn't originally want to be an actor. He was very interested in computers and wanted to work in Computer Science or IT. However, his mother encouraged him to try acting.
University Studies
After high school, James started studying Communication Arts at Rangsit University. In 2013, he received a special scholarship for artists. This allowed him to switch his studies to Business Administration, focusing on Retail Business Management. He graduated in December 2017.
Starting His Career
In 2011, James won a modeling contest for a cosmetics brand called Mistine. This was the start of his modeling career.
In April 2012, a talent manager named Charnchalard Dhaweesap saw James' photos online. He contacted James and helped him start his journey in the entertainment world.
Career Highlights
James Jirayu quickly became a big star in Thailand. He made his acting debut in the TV drama series Suphapburut Juthathep: Khun Chai Puttipat in May 2013. This role made him very famous.
First Movie and Concerts
In September 2013, he starred in his first movie, First Love. He also appeared in two other dramas that year. Within just one year, James was one of the most popular actors in Thailand.
In January 2014, James held his first concert called James Ji Monkey King Fan Meeting. In February, his second movie, Timeline, was released. Later that year, he visited children with heart conditions in Vietnam. His drama Ruk Sudrit (Race) was also shown in Japan, marking his debut there.
International Recognition
In April 2015, James released his first photo book, which was shot in Japan. In May, his drama Neung Nai Suang (The One in My Heart) aired. In June, he held another concert called Magic James the Concert.
He even appeared on the stage of Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) in Japan in September 2015. He spent two months in Japan taking singing and dancing lessons. In November, he held his first fan meeting in Japan, which was very popular.
Continued Success
In January 2016, his drama Padiwaradda (The Loyal Wife) aired. He also had a TV show called Tabi Japan with James Jirayu, which explored different regions of Japan. He walked the runway for Yohji Yamamoto's fashion show in Paris.
In March 2016, he appeared at the Tokyo Girls Collection again. He also started filming two new dramas, Nueng Dao Fa Diao (Underneath The Same Sky) and Game Sanaeha (Game of Affection). In June 2016, James released his first music album in Japan, titled Kimi Dake I Love You.
In 2017, James was one of the highest-paid actors in Thailand. His drama Buang Hong (Fallen Angel) aired in March. He also appeared in a Japanese TV series called Idol x Warrior Miracle Tunes! as "Demon King." In May 2017, he became a goodwill ambassador for the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan. He held a concert called James4D: Concert in September 2017.
Recent Works
In 2019, James started filming his drama Leh Banpakarn (Mist of Love). His role as "Ah-Sa" in the drama Krong Kam (Repercussion) made him even more loved by fans. He won the "Best Actor in a Leading Role" award for this role in 2020. The drama Krong Kam also won a "Special Awards for Foreign Dramas" at The Tokyo Drama Awards.
On March 26, 2021, James released his first mini music album called SEE MORE, which has five songs. In December 2021, his new movie OM! Crush On Me! was released in theaters.
James Jirayu and Ranee Campen are a very popular on-screen couple from Channel 3. Their fans call them "Jiranee." James is also well-known in other parts of Southeast Asia, China, and Japan.
