Jiro Hiratsuka (平塚 次郎, Hiratsuka Jirō, born December 2, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder during his career.
Playing Career
Jiro Hiratsuka was born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, on December 2, 1979. He grew up loving football.
He started his professional football journey in 1998. He joined a club called Bellmare Hiratsuka. This team played in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. Jiro played as a midfielder for the team.
Even though he played in some matches each season, he didn't get a lot of playing time. In 2000, his club, which later became known as Shonan Bellmare, moved down to the J2 League. This is the second-highest professional football league in Japan.
In 2001, Jiro decided to move to a different club. He joined Jatco TT, which played in the Japan Football League. This league was a step below the J2 League. At Jatco, Jiro got to play much more often. He was an important player for the team until the end of the 2003 season.
Sadly, the Jatco club was disbanded, meaning it stopped existing, at the end of 2003. When this happened, Jiro Hiratsuka decided to retire from playing professional football.
