The main town, also called Jitotol, had a population of 4,427 people in 2010. Besides the main town, the municipality includes 63 other smaller communities. Many of these are rural villages. Some of the largest villages in 2010 were:
- Carmen Zacatal (2,579 people)
- Las Maravillas (2,105 people)
- Cálido (1,189 people)
- El Ámbar (1,157 people)
These communities are important parts of the Jitotol municipality.
