Playing for Clubs: João Paulo's Journey
João Paulo played for many different football clubs during his career. He started his professional journey in Brazil.
Playing in Italy: Bari Years
In 1989, João Paulo moved to Italy to play for the club Bari. He quickly became a key player there. He worked well with other strikers like Pietro Maiellaro and Florin Raducioiu.
During the 1990–1991 season, João Paulo scored 12 goals. Two of these goals were against A.C. Milan. These goals helped another team, Sampdoria, win their first-ever Serie A title.
A Tough Injury
The next season started well for João Paulo. However, in a match against Sampdoria, he suffered a serious injury. A tackle broke his leg, and he had to miss the rest of the season. It took him a whole year to recover. Even after Bari was moved down to a lower league (Serie B), he stayed with the club for two more seasons until 1994.
Back in Brazil and Beyond
After his time in Italy, João Paulo returned to Brazil. He played for several well-known Brazilian clubs, including Vasco da Gama, Goiás EC, and Corinthians.
