Joseph S. Douse (April 30, 1930 – August 10, 2012) was an American baseball player. He was a pitcher for the Kansas City Monarchs team. He played in the Negro American League during the years 1952 and 1953.

Joe Douse was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 30, 1930. He grew up in Atlanta and went to Booker T. Washington High School.
Playing Baseball
Joe Douse was a pitcher, which is a player who throws the baseball from the mound to the batter. He played for the Kansas City Monarchs. This team was part of the Negro American League. This league was very important for African-American baseball players before the major leagues were fully integrated.
In 1952, Joe Douse had a very special game. He pitched a "one-hitter" against the Philadelphia Stars. A one-hitter means that the pitcher only allowed one hit to the other team during the entire game. This is a great achievement for any pitcher in baseball.
