Joel Chianese's Football Journey
Playing for Sydney FC
Joel Chianese started his senior football career with Sydney FC. His first big game was in the 2011 Asian Champions League. He came into the game as a substitute. This match was against Kashima Antlers at the Sydney Football Stadium.
He made his first A-League appearance in the 2011–12 season. He came on as a substitute in a game against Newcastle Jets. In the finals of the 2011–12 season, Chianese scored two goals. This was in a match against the Wellington Phoenix FC.
Time in National Premier Leagues
After leaving Sydney FC, Chianese joined National Premier Leagues NSW club Sydney United. He also tried out for a team in England, Swindon Town. He scored two goals in a friendly game there. However, he did not get a contract and returned to Australia.
Chianese left Sydney United after the 2014 season. He then signed with another team, Bonnyrigg White Eagles. In his very first game for them, he scored two goals.
Playing in Malaysia
In March 2015, Chianese went to New Zealand. He was supposed to play for Auckland City FC in a big competition. But he could not be registered in time.
Then, Auckland City sold him to a Malaysian club called Sabah FA. He played for them for the rest of the 2015 season. In December 2015, Chianese decided to join Negeri Sembilan FA. He played under his former coach, Gary Phillips. He also played with other players from the A-League.
Chianese scored 10 goals in 15 games for Negeri Sembilan FA. But he was released from his contract during the season. Another Australian player, Andrew Nabbout, was also released.
Returning to Perth Glory
In August 2016, Chianese came back to the A-League. He joined the team Perth Glory. He played for them for several seasons.
Playing for Hyderabad FC
In August 2020, Chianese moved to India. He joined Indian Super League club Hyderabad FC. He scored a goal for Hyderabad in the 2023 Indian Super Cup group stage. This was in a game against Aizawl.
Loan to Perth Glory
On April 12, 2021, Chianese returned to the A-League again. He agreed to a short-term deal with his old club, Perth Glory. This was until the end of the 2020–21 season. He also extended his contract with Hyderabad FC.
Joining Perth RedStar
Perth RedStar announced that Chianese joined their team in February 2024.
