Johan Abram Persson (born July 13, 1898 – died February 24, 1971) was a famous Swedish cross-country skier. He was also a fisherman, a craftsman, and even a wolf hunter! Johan lived his whole life in a place called Skierfa, close to the Pite River in Sweden.

He was the son of Per Larsson and Anna Stina Bassem from Luokta lappby. Johan was a great athlete who competed for his club, Arjeplogs SK. He also represented Sweden in big international races. He is best known for winning the famous Vasaloppet race in 1929.

Johan Persson: A Skiing Champion

Johan Abram Persson was a talented cross-country skier. He competed in many important races during his career. His biggest win was the Vasaloppet race.

Winning the Vasaloppet

The Vasaloppet is a very long and famous cross-country ski race in Sweden. It is 90 kilometers (about 56 miles) long! Winning this race is a huge achievement for any skier. Johan Persson won the Vasaloppet in 1929. This made him a well-known name in the world of skiing.

Johan Persson also competed in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. These are major international events where skiers from all over the world race against each other. He showed great skill in long-distance races.
