Johann André Forfang (born 4 July 1995) is a famous Norwegian ski jumper. He is known for winning a team gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Ski Jumping Career Highlights

Johann André Forfang started his journey in ski jumping with the Tromsø SK club. He made his first big appearance in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in December 2014. Since then, he has become one of the top ski jumpers.

Olympic and World Championship Success

Forfang has won many important medals throughout his career. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he earned a silver medal in the individual normal hill event. He also became an Olympic Champion with the Norwegian team. His teammates were Andreas Stjernen, Daniel-André Tande, and Robert Johansson.

He has also achieved great success at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

  • In 2017, he won a silver medal in the team large hill event in Lahti, Finland.
  • In 2023, he won two silver medals in Planica, Slovenia. These were for the men's team large hill and the mixed team normal hill events.
  • In 2025, he won a gold medal in the mixed team large hill event and a bronze medal in the men's team large hill event in Trondheim, Norway.

Johann is also a three-time World Champion in ski flying team events.

  • He won gold in 2016 in Bad Mitterndorf, Austria.
  • He won gold again in 2018 in Oberstdorf, Germany.
  • His third gold medal came in 2020 in Planica, Slovenia.
  • In 2022, he added a bronze medal in the team event in Vikersund, Norway.

World Cup Victories

Forfang has won several individual World Cup competitions. His first individual victory was in Titisee-Neustadt, Germany, on 12 March 2016. He also won the last World Cup event before the 2018 Olympic Games, which took place in Willingen, Germany. On 1 December 2018, he won another World Cup event in Tagil, Russia.

He has continued to win in recent years. In the 2023/24 season, he won two more World Cup events. One was in Willingen, Germany, on 3 February 2024, and another in Oslo, Norway, on 9 March 2024. His most recent victory was in Lake Placid, USA, on 8 February 2025, during the 2024/25 season.
