Johann André Forfang (born 4 July 1995) is a famous ski jumper from Norway. He is known for flying through the air on skis and has won many awards. His biggest achievement is winning a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Career

Johann was born in Tromsø, a city in northern Norway. He followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Daniel Forfang, who was also a ski jumper. Johann joined his local club, Tromsø SK, and began his journey to become a top athlete.

In December 2014, he competed in his first World Cup. The World Cup is a series of events where the best ski jumpers from all over the world compete against each other throughout the winter season.

Major Achievements

Johann has won many medals in the biggest competitions in ski jumping.

Olympic Games

Forfang's most famous moment was at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

  • He won a silver medal in the individual normal hill competition.
  • He then won a gold medal with the Norwegian team in the team large hill event. His teammates were Andreas Stjernen, Daniel-André Tande, and Robert Johansson.

World Championships

He has also been very successful at the World Championships, winning several medals with his team.

  • 2017 in Lahti: Silver medal in the team large hill.
  • 2023 in Planica: Two silver medals, one in the men's team event and another in the mixed team event.
  • 2025 in Trondheim: A gold medal in the mixed team event and a bronze medal in the men's team event.

Ski Flying World Championships

Johann is also excellent at ski flying, which uses even bigger hills than regular ski jumping. He has helped the Norwegian team win three gold medals (2016, 2018, 2020) and one bronze medal (2022) at the Ski Flying World Championships.
