John Archibald McDonald (born August 1865 – died 1929) was an important person in Saskatchewan, Canada. He worked as a banker and was also a politician.

McDonald was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. He represented the area called North Qu'Appelle. He served in this role from 1908 to 1914. First, he was part of the Provincial Rights Party. Later, he joined the Conservative Party.

Early Life and Family

John Archibald McDonald was born in August 1865 in Winnipeg. At that time, Winnipeg was part of an area called Rupert's Land. His father was Archibald McDonald. Archibald was a "chief factor" for the Hudson's Bay Company. This was a very important job in the fur trade.

John went to school at St. John's College in Winnipeg. In 1887, he got married to Elleonora Campbell. Her father was Robert Campbell, who was also a fur trader.

Political Career

John Archibald McDonald became a politician in Saskatchewan. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1908. This assembly is where laws are made for the province. He worked to represent the people of North Qu'Appelle.

He served two terms in the assembly. He was a member of different political parties during this time. He stepped down from his political role in 1914. This happened because of some issues that came up related to the 1912 election.
