John Beston was an English writer and religious leader who lived a long time ago, in the 1400s. He was a very smart man who studied and wrote about religious ideas. He was also a prior, which means he was a leader of a special religious community called a Carmelite convent in a town called Bishop's Lynn.

John Beston earned high degrees in religious studies, becoming a "doctor in theology" from both Cambridge University in England and Paris in France. People thought he was a great thinker and speaker. In 1423, he was chosen to go to an important meeting called the Council of Sienna. He passed away in Bishop's Lynn in 1428.
