John Blennerhassett (born around 1660 – died 1709) was an important Anglo-Irish politician. This means he was from an English family living in Ireland, and he worked in politics there. Early Life and Political Career

John Blennerhassett was born at his family's home called Ballyseedy, in County Kerry, Ireland. His parents were John Blennerhassett and Elisabeth Denny.

He started his political journey in 1692. That year, he was first chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area of Tralee. An MP is someone elected by the people to represent them and help make laws.

After serving for Tralee, he became an MP for Dingle. He held this position from 1695 to 1699. Later, from 1703 until he passed away in 1709, he was the MP for County Kerry.

Family Life

John Blennerhassett married Margaret Crosbie. Her parents were Patrick Crosbie and Agnes Freke. John and Margaret had a large family together. They had six sons and one daughter. Their oldest son, also named John Blennerhassett, followed in his father's footsteps and also became an MP.
