Sir John Buck, also known as Sir John Bucke, lived a long time ago in England. He was a landowner, meaning he owned a lot of property and estates. He also played a role in politics, helping to make decisions for the country.

Early Life and Education

John Buck was the son of Francis Bucke. His family lived in a place called The Nash in Kempsey, Worcestershire. He was also a cousin to George Wylde through their grandparents.

When he was about 15 years old, in 1581, John Buck started studying at Magdalen Hall, Oxford, which is a famous university. Later, in 1586, he joined Inner Temple. This was a place where people studied to become lawyers.

A Soldier's Journey

After his studies, John Buck became a soldier. From 1591, he fought in a big conflict called the Netherlands campaign. He was part of the English army, led by a commander named Sir Francis Vere.

The next year, he was put in charge of a group of soldiers called an infantry company. He showed great bravery and skill during battles. One important battle where he fought well was the Siege of Steenwijk.

Becoming a Politician

In 1601, Sir John Buck was chosen to be a Member of Parliament. This means he was elected to represent the area of Droitwich in the House of Commons. Members of Parliament help create laws and discuss important issues for the country.

A few years later, on July 23, 1603, he was given the title of "Sir." This means he was knighted, which was a special honor given by the King or Queen. He also owned land in Lincolnshire called Hamby Grange.

Later Years

Sir John Buck lived to be quite old for his time. He passed away when he was about 81 years old.
