John Michael Fasano (born August 24, 1961 – died July 19, 2014) was a talented American writer, producer, and director for movies. He worked on many films during his career.
John Fasano directed six movies and produced twenty others. He also wrote the scripts for at least eighteen films. He was known as a "script doctor." This means he helped fix or improve movie scripts, especially for big action films. Some famous movies he worked on include Tombstone, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and Judge Dredd. He also wrote a book called Evie and the Golem with Roni Keller. John Fasano was also an expert on weapons and wrote for magazines like Combat Tactics. Plus, he designed many Halloween masks!
John Fasano's Movie Career
After finishing college in 1984, John Fasano used his artistic skills. He worked as an art director for magazines like Muscle and Beauty. He also painted posters for movies. His work impressed a director named Jack Bravman. Bravman hired Fasano to write Zombie Nightmare. John also acted in this movie.
John Fasano loved heavy metal music. He drew art for concert posters and heavy metal magazines. He also directed horror movies with a heavy metal theme. These included Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare and Black Roses.
In 1989, Fasano moved to Los Angeles. There, he sold his first movie idea, Tailgunner. He then helped write the script for Another 48 Hrs.. This led to many offers from big movie studios. He became a script doctor for a company called Cinergi Pictures. He helped a lot with the scripts for many of their movies. These included Die Hard with a Vengeance, Tombstone, and Judge Dredd.
John Fasano was also involved in the early plans for Alien 3. He wrote a full script based on another director's ideas, but it wasn't used in the final movie. John Fasano passed away at his home in Los Angeles on July 19, 2014. He died from heart failure. At the time, he was working on a new version of the movie Chariots of the Gods.
