Building in Edinburgh

In the 1460s, John Halkerston was the "Master of Works" at Trinity College Kirk in Edinburgh. Being a Master of Works meant he was in charge of all the building projects for that church. He oversaw the construction and design, making sure everything was built correctly.

His Work in Perth

Around the same time, John Halkerston also worked on St John's Kirk in Perth. This church is very old and beautiful. The northwest part of the church is now called "Halkerston Tower" in his honor.

The Bride's Entrance

Inside Halkerston Tower, there is a special door known as the "Bride's Entrance." This door is still used today for weddings. Imagine walking through a door designed by someone hundreds of years ago!

Halkerston's Legacy
