John Hele (born March 3, 1626 – died January 25, 1661) was an English lawyer and politician. He was a member of the House of Commons, which is like today's Parliament, between 1659 and 1661.

Early Life and Education

John Hele was the only son of Nicholas Hele and his first wife, Dorothy Stradling. His father passed away in 1640, and John took over the family's responsibilities.

When he was 16, John started studying at Christ Church, Oxford in 1642. Later, in 1644, he joined Lincoln's Inn, a famous place where lawyers are trained. He finished his legal studies and became a lawyer in 1652.

A Career in Politics

John Hele became involved in public service in 1659. He was made a J.P. for Surrey. A J.P. is like a local judge who helps keep the peace. He also became a commissioner for the militia, which was a group of citizens trained as soldiers.

In the same year, John Hele was chosen to be a Member of Parliament for Reigate. He served in the Third Protectorate Parliament, which was the government at that time.

He continued his public duties in 1660. He was a commissioner for assessment, helping to collect taxes. He was also re-elected as an MP for Reigate. John Hele became a colonel in the militia and helped oversee legal cases in his area.

Personal Life and Passing

John Hele married a woman named Dorothy. She was the daughter of Sir John Hobart.

John Hele passed away at the age of 34 in 1661. He did not leave a will.
