Sir John McCall (born 10 August 1860 – died 27 June 1919) was an important Australian politician. He was known for his work in the Tasmanian government and later as a representative for Tasmania in London.

Early Life and Education
John McCall was born in Devonport, Tasmania. His father, John Hair McCall, was also a politician, serving in the Tasmanian Legislative Council.
John McCall studied to become a medical doctor. He earned his medical degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. After finishing his studies, he returned to Tasmania in 1881.
A Career in Politics
In 1888, John McCall began his political career. He was elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly. This is like a state parliament where laws are made. He represented the area called West Devon.
He was a member of the Protectionist Party. This party believed in protecting local industries. He served in the House of Assembly from 1888 to 1893. He was elected again later, serving from 1901 to 1909.
Representing Tasmania in London
After his time in the Tasmanian parliament, Sir John McCall took on a new role. He became Tasmania's Agent-General in London. An Agent-General is like an ambassador for a state. Their job is to represent their state's interests in another country.
He worked in this important role for ten years. He did a great job representing Tasmania. Sir John McCall passed away in London in 1919.
His Family Life
Sir John McCall was married two times. His first wife was Mary Chickie. They were married in Glasgow. Mary passed away in 1896. They had a son and a daughter together.
- Their son was also named John McCall. He became a doctor too.
- Their daughter was Mary McCall, also known as "Mollie." She married Commander Hewitt in 1923.
In 1900, Sir John McCall married his second wife, Claire Pearson Reynolds. They had two sons:
