John Sutton was born on August 10, 1948. He is a very important economics professor. He teaches at the London School of Economics, which is a famous university in London, England. He holds a special title there, named after another famous economist, Sir John Hicks.
John Sutton's Education
John Sutton studied at several universities. He first went to University College Dublin in Ireland. After that, he earned another degree from Trinity College Dublin. Later, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield. A Ph.D. is a very high degree that shows someone is an expert in their field.
His Career and Achievements
John Sutton started teaching at the University of Sheffield. Then, in 1977, he joined the London School of Economics (LSE). He has also taught at many other famous universities around the world. These include Tokyo University, Harvard Business School, Harvard University, and the University of Chicago.
From 2004 to 2007, John Sutton was the president of the Royal Economic Society. This is a big honor for an economist. He is also an honorary member of the American Economic Association. This is another important group for economists in the United States. He is also part of a special committee at CERGE-EI in Prague.
