Sir John Vincent Lentaigne (born 1855 – died 30 March 1915) was an important Irish surgeon. He was also the president of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland from 1908 to 1910.

Early Life and Education
John Vincent Lentaigne was born in Dublin, Ireland, on July 19, 1855. His parents were Mary (whose maiden name was Magan) and John Francis O'Neill Lentaigne. John had a large family with six brothers and four sisters.
He went to school at Clongowes Wood College in Ireland. He also studied in Vannes, Brittany, which is a region in France. Later, he attended the Catholic University of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin in 1880. He also studied at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
Medical Career and Achievements
John Vincent Lentaigne became a resident surgeon at the Richmond Surgical Hospital in 1882. This means he lived at the hospital and worked there. Later, in 1886, he moved to work at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
In 1886, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). This is a special honor given to experienced surgeons. He was elected as the vice-president of the RCSI in 1906. Then, from 1908 to 1909, he served as its president.
In 1911, he received another important role. He was made surgeon general to the household of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. This person was like the king's representative in Ireland. John Lentaigne was honored with a knighthood in 1910, which means he was given the title "Sir."
Family and Later Life
Sir John Lentaigne married Phyllis Mary Coffey in February 1882. They had five children together: two daughters and three sons.
Sir John Vincent Lentaigne passed away at his home in Dublin on March 30, 1915.
