John of Hesse-Braubach facts for kids
John of Hesse-Braubach (born June 17, 1609, in Darmstadt; died April 1, 1651, in Ems) was a German prince and a military leader. He was a member of the important House of Hesse-Darmstadt family. Later in his life, he became a ruler known as a Landgrave of Hesse-Braubach.
Early Life of John
John was the seventh child born to Louis V, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and his wife, Magdalene of Brandenburg. He was their second son who lived to adulthood. His mother, Magdalene, was the daughter of John George, Elector of Brandenburg, another important ruler.
John's Family Life
On September 30, 1647, John married Countess Johannette of Sayn-Wittgenstein. She was the daughter of Ernest, Count of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, and his wife, Countess Louise Juliane of Erbach. John and Johannette did not have any children together.
