His Early Life and Moving to America

Johnny Dang's birth name is Đặng Anh Tuấn. He was born in a place called Đắk Lắk Province in Vietnam. This was near the end of the Vietnam War.

Jewelry making runs in Johnny's family. Both his grandfather and his father worked with jewelry. In 1987, Johnny's father moved from Vietnam to the United States.

Later, in 1996, Johnny and his family joined his father in Houston. Johnny was 23 years old at that time. He started working with his brother at a flea market in Houston. There, they fixed jewelry for people.

Starting His Jewelry Business

In 1998, Johnny Dang opened his very first store. It was called TV Jewelry and was located inside the Sharpstown Mall. He discovered that many people wanted special jeweled "grills" for their teeth. This became his unique specialty.

Johnny made a grill for a famous rapper named Paul Wall. After that, Johnny and Paul Wall decided to work together. They started their business partnership in 2002. In 2016, Johnny moved his jewelry business from the mall to its own building.
