Early Life and Moving to America

Johnny Dang was born as Đặng Anh Tuấn in 1973. He was born in a place called the Đắk Lắk Province in what was then South Vietnam. This was around the end of the Vietnam War.

Johnny's family had a history in jewelry. Both his grandfather and his father worked with jewelry. In 1987, Johnny's father moved from Vietnam to the United States. Later, in 1996, Johnny and the rest of his family joined his father in Houston, Texas. Johnny was 23 years old when he arrived.

Starting His Jewelry Business

When Johnny first came to Houston, he started working with his brother. They repaired jewelry at a large market called a flea market. This was how he began his journey in the jewelry business in the United States.

In 1998, Johnny Dang opened his very first store. He named it TV Jewelry. This store was located inside the Sharpstown Mall. Johnny soon found a special type of jewelry that many people wanted: jeweled grills. These unique tooth covers became very popular.

Working with Hip-Hop Artists

Johnny Dang became even more famous after he made a grill for a rapper named Paul Wall. Because of their successful work together, Johnny Dang and Paul Wall decided to become business partners in 2002.

As his business grew, Johnny Dang moved his main store. In 2016, he moved from the Sharpstown Mall to a bigger, stand-alone building. This new location helped his business continue to grow.
