Jon Skolmen (born November 1, 1940 – died March 28, 2019) was a famous actor and comedian from Norway. He appeared in many films in both Norway and Sweden. He is especially remembered for playing the character Ole Bramserud in the movie Sällskapsresan (1980). In this film, he starred alongside Lasse Åberg.

Jon Skolmen's Career
Jon Skolmen worked for the Norwegian state broadcasting company, NRK, from 1963 to 1981. During this time, he helped write and appeared in a popular show called The Nor-Way to Broadcasting. He worked on this show with Trond Kirkvaag. The show was very successful, winning the Golden Rose of Montreux and the Chaplin Award at a TV festival in 1976.
Working on Children's TV
Jon Skolmen also appeared on children's television in Britain. In 1971, he was a presenter for one week on the BBC show Play School. He was also a regular presenter on the Norwegian version of the show, called Lekestue. In 1981, he was part of a special TV show called Jon, Brian, Kirsti and Jon. This show was made by both the BBC and NRK. He worked with Kirsti Sparboe from Norway and Brian Cant and Jonathan Cohen from Britain. Jon Skolmen even helped write the script for this special show with Brian Cant.
Success in Sweden
Skolmen became very popular in Sweden. He played a main role in five Sällskapsresan movies. In these films, he played Ole Bramserud, a Norwegian friend to the main character Stig Helmer-Olsson. Stig Helmer-Olsson was played by the Swedish actor Lasse Åberg. In the 1980s, Jon Skolmen also appeared in a Swedish comedy show called Nöjesmassakern , which was shown on SVT.
Later Work and Awards
In 2007, Jon Skolmen worked again with his old partner Trond Kirkvaag. They starred in a TV comedy show called Luftens helter. This show was made shortly before Trond Kirkvaag passed away that same year. In 2009, Jon Skolmen received the Komiprisen honorary prize. This award recognized his amazing work and achievements throughout his career.
Personal Life and Passing
Jon Skolmen was part of a family of actors. He was the father of actors Christian Skolmen and Tine Skolmen. His sister was the director Eli Skolmen Ryg. He was also the uncle of actors Anne Ryg and Hege Schøyen. He even acted alongside Hege Schøyen in the 1991 Swedish comedy film Den ofrivillige golfaren.
Jon Skolmen passed away on March 28, 2019, when he was 78 years old.
