Jordan was established in the year 1904. It was named after the person who owned a local gristmill. A gristmill is a type of factory that grinds grain, like corn, into flour.
A post office opened in Jordan in 1906. This was where people could send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years, until 1955.
