Jordan is a small town located in Green County, Wisconsin, United States. In the year 2000, about 577 people lived here. It's a quiet place, and a part of it, called Jordan Center, is near the larger area of Stevens Point.

Jordan is a town that covers about 36 square miles (which is about 93 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. There's only a tiny bit of water, less than one percent.

A Look Back at Jordan's History

The very first people to settle in what is now Jordan arrived a long time ago. William Brazel was one of the first. In 1836, he grew the first corn crop in the area. The next year, in 1837, he grew the first wheat.

Other early settlers followed. John and George Shelton came from Virginia in 1836. Lars Larson Bothan arrived from Norway in 1843. His brothers, Ole Iverson and Axel Iverson, also came from Norway in 1843 and 1844. Curtis Hard and Henry Crary settled here in 1845.

Early settlers thought a big city might grow where Jordan Creek meets the Pecatonica River. Steamboats even traveled up the river to this spot in 1845.

In 2000, there were 577 people living in Jordan. This means there were about 16 people for every square mile. Most of the people living in Jordan were White. A very small number were African American or Asian. Some people were also of Hispanic or Latino background.

There were 200 households in the town. Many of these households (about 40%) had children under 18 living with them. Most households (73%) were married couples living together. The average household had almost three people.
