Jordan Canning was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. She later moved to Montreal to study at Concordia University.
A Director's Journey
Jordan Canning's films have won many awards. She has received two Golden Sheaf Awards. She also won three awards at the NSI Online Short Film Festival. In 2012, she won the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival RBC Emerging Filmmaker Competition.
Web Series Success
Canning directed all 23 episodes of the web series Space Riders: Division Earth. This show won a Canadian Screen Award in 2014 for Best Digital Series. It also won four Canadian Comedy Awards, including Best Director for Canning.
Feature Films
Her 2014 movie, We Were Wolves, was first shown at the Toronto International Film Festival. This film stars Peter Mooney and Steve Cochrane. It also won the Best Feature Prize at the Atlantic Film Festival.
In 2015, Canning received an award to help her make her second movie, Suck It Up. This film came out in 2017 and was shown at the Slamdance Film Festival.
