When Jordi was six years old, in 1971, his family moved to a suburb of Tarragona called Torreforta. He grew up there.

Jordi studied at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV). He earned a special degree called a bachelor's degree in geography and history. Later, he went on to get a doctorate, which is a very advanced degree. His doctorate was in social and cultural anthropology. This means he studied human societies and cultures.
