Jordi Villacampa Amorós (born October 11, 1963) is a famous Spanish basketball player who is now retired. He played for the team Joventut Badalona for his entire career. Later, he even became the chairman, or president, of the club.

Jordi was 1.96 meters (about 6 feet 5 inches) tall. He played as a shooting guard and a small forward. He was known for his amazing speed and his ability to shoot from far away. Many people think Jordi was one of the best "swingmen" (players who can play both shooting guard and small forward) of his time in Europe.

Jordi Villacampa's Club Career

Jordi Villacampa played basketball at a very high level for 21 years. What's really special is that he played for only one club: Joventut Badalona. He joined the senior team when he was just 16 years old.

He stayed with Joventut Badalona until he retired in 1997 at the age of 33. His retirement was a big event, celebrated on December 22, 1997. During his time with the club, Jordi helped them win many important titles. These included the EuroLeague and two Spanish League championships. He played in 506 games in the Spanish ACB League. He scored an incredible 8,991 points, which is the second-highest in the league's history.

Jordi was recognized as one of the best players in Europe. He was chosen for the EuroLeague Final Four Team twice. This happened in 1992 and again in 1994.

To honor his amazing career, Joventut Badalona retired his jersey number, 8. This means no other player on the team will ever wear that number again. The special ceremony took place in 1997 at the Palau Municipal d'Esports de Badalona.

Playing for the Spanish National Team

Jordi Villacampa also played for the Spain men's national basketball team. He played in 158 international games, starting in 1984. He took part in almost all the major international basketball events during his career.

He played in two Summer Olympic Games. These were in Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992. Jordi also competed in three FIBA World Cups (in 1986, 1990, and 1994). He played in four EuroBasket tournaments (in 1985, 1987, 1991, and 1993).

His highest score in a single game for the Spanish national team was 48 points. This happened in a game against Venezuela. The best achievement he had with the national team was winning a bronze medal. This was at the EuroBasket 1991 tournament, which was held in Rome.

Jordi Villacampa's Life After Playing Basketball

After retiring from playing, Jordi Villacampa continued his involvement with basketball. In 2000, he became the President of his old club, Joventut Badalona.

As the club's President, he helped the team win even more titles. These included two Catalan League titles, the FIBA EuroChallenge, a Spanish Cup, and the Eurocup. Under his leadership, Joventut Badalona became one of the top teams in the Spanish ACB League once again.

Jordi announced in December 2016 that he would step down from his role. He officially left the presidency on April 26, 2017. Another former player, Juan Antonio Morales, then became the new president of Joventut Badalona.
