Jordi Villacampa Amorós (born October 11, 1963) is a famous Spanish basketball player who is now retired. He played for the team Joventut Badalona for his entire career. Later, he even became the chairman (leader) of the club!

Jordi was 1.96 meters (about 6 feet 5 inches) tall. He played as a shooting guard or a small forward. He was known for being very fast and for having a great long-distance shot. Many people think Jordi was one of the best players of his kind in Europe during his time.

Jordi's Amazing Club Career

Jordi Villacampa played basketball at a high level for 21 years! What's really cool is that he played for only one team, Joventut Badalona, his whole career.

He started playing for the main professional team when he was just 16 years old. He stayed with Joventut Badalona until he retired in 1997, at the age of 33. He had a big celebration on December 22, 1997, to honor his career.

During his time with Joventut Badalona, Jordi helped his team win many important titles. These included the EuroLeague (a top European competition) and two Spanish League championships. He played in 506 games in the Spanish ACB League and scored 8,991 points. This is the second-highest number of points ever scored in the Spanish ACB League!

Jordi was chosen for the EuroLeague Final Four Team twice, in 1992 and 1994. This shows how important he was to his team in big games.

When he retired in 1997, his jersey number 8 was officially retired by Joventut Badalona. This means no other player on the team will ever wear the number 8 again. It's a huge honor for a player! The ceremony happened at the Pavelló Olímpic de Badalona.

Playing for Spain: National Team

Jordi Villacampa also played for the Spanish national team in 158 games. He started playing for Spain in 1984. He took part in almost all the big international competitions during his playing years.

He played in two Summer Olympic Games:

  • Seoul in 1988
  • Barcelona in 1992

He also played in three FIBA World Cups:

  • 1986
  • 1990
  • 1994

And four EuroBasket tournaments (the European Championship):

  • 1985
  • 1987
  • 1991
  • 1993

Jordi's highest score in a single game for the Spanish national team was 48 points, which he scored against Venezuela. His best achievement with the Spanish national team was winning a bronze medal at the EuroBasket 1991 in Rome.

After Playing: A Club President

After retiring as a player, Jordi Villacampa continued his connection with basketball. In 2000, he became the President of Joventut Badalona, the same club he played for his whole career.

As president, he helped the team win even more titles:

  • Two Catalan League titles
  • The FIBA EuroChallenge
  • A Spanish Cup
  • The Eurocup

He worked hard to make Joventut Badalona one of the top teams in the Spanish ACB League again.

Jordi announced in December 2016 that he would step down as president after 17 years. He officially left the role in April 2017. Another former player, Juan Antonio Morales, became the new president of Joventut Badalona.
