Jordie's Rugby Journey
Starting His Professional Career (2016-2017)
Jordie signed with Canterbury for their 2016 Mitre 10 Cup season. He quickly showed his talent, even scoring 25 points in just his second game. Overall, he played 12 games for Canterbury and scored 123 points. His team won the Mitre 10 Cup title in 2016. After this great year, he won the age grade and Mitre 10 Cup player of the year awards.
In September 2016, Jordie joined the Hurricanes in Super Rugby. He made his first appearance as a starting fullback. He became a regular player after a teammate got injured. Jordie even scored a memorable try against the Stormers by chasing a kick and touching the ball down just before it went out of bounds.
In October 2016, Jordie was chosen to be an apprentice for the All Blacks, New Zealand's national team. He traveled with them during their tour. He also signed with Taranaki for 2017 and played a few games for them.
In June 2017, Jordie was named in the All Blacks squad for the first time. He joined his brothers, Beauden and Scott, in the team. Jordie made his international debut on 16 June 2017, against Samoa. He came on as a substitute and played well, helping set up a try. In a later game against the British & Irish Lions, Jordie started at fullback and scored his first international try. He also helped set up another try. The game ended in a 15-15 draw. Interestingly, Jordie has mentioned he has a fear of Furbys, a popular children's toy from the 1990s!
Later in 2017, Jordie had to stop playing for the rest of the year because he needed shoulder surgery.
Playing for the All Blacks (2018-2019)

During the 2018 end-of-year tour, Jordie played two more games. In the final game of 2018, against Italy, he played on the right wing. He had an amazing performance, scoring four tries! This made him one of only three All Blacks in that decade to score four tries in a single match.
