Jordan Matthew Barrett (born 17 February 1997) is a professional New Zealand rugby player. He plays as a centre or fullback. Currently, he plays for the Irish team Leinster in the United Rugby Championship. He also plays for the New Zealand national team, known as the All Blacks.
Before joining Leinster, Jordie played for Canterbury, the Hurricanes in Super Rugby, and Taranaki in the Bunnings NPC.

Early Life and Rugby Beginnings
Jordie Barrett grew up in a family deeply involved in rugby. His older brothers, Beauden, Scott, and Kane, also became professional rugby players. Their father, Kevin 'Smiley' Barrett, was a strong player for Taranaki.
Jordie attended Francis Douglas Memorial College, just like his brothers. He also played rugby for Lincoln University.
Playing for New Zealand Under 20
In 2016, Jordie was part of the New Zealand Under 20 squad. They played in the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship in England. He played three games and scored 52 points, including one try. He also played for the team in the Oceania Championship against Australia.
Professional Rugby Career
Starting with Canterbury and Hurricanes (2016–2017)
Jordie began his professional career with Canterbury in 2016. He quickly became a key player, scoring 123 points in 12 games. Canterbury won the 2016 Mitre 10 Cup title that year. Jordie also won the "Age Grade" and "Mitre 10 Cup Player of the Year" awards.
In September 2016, he signed a two-year contract with the Hurricanes in Super Rugby. He made his debut as a fullback. Jordie became a regular starter after a teammate's injury. He showed his skill by scoring a memorable try against the Stormers.
Joining the All Blacks
Jordie was invited to train with the All Blacks in late 2016 as an apprentice. He officially joined the All Blacks squad in June 2017. This was for games against Samoa and the British & Irish Lions. His brothers, Beauden and Scott, were also in the squad.
He made his international debut on June 16, 2017, against Samoa. He came on as a substitute and helped set up a try. Later, he started at fullback in the third test against the Lions. He scored his first international try in that game. The match ended in a 15-15 draw.
After this, Jordie needed shoulder surgery and missed the rest of the 2017 season.
Playing with His Brothers (2018–2019)
After recovering, Jordie returned to the All Blacks in 2018. He played alongside his older brothers, Scott and Beauden, in a test match against France. This was a special moment, as they were the first trio of brothers to start for an international rugby team.
Jordie played very well in the second test against France. He scored two tries and was named "Man of the Match." The All Blacks won the series.
In the 2018 Rugby Championship, Jordie continued to play for the All Blacks. He scored a try against South Africa. Later in 2018, he had an amazing game against Italy. Playing on the wing, he scored four tries and was again named "Man of the Match." He was only the third All Black in that decade to score four tries in one match.
In 2020, Jordie also represented the South Island team in a special match against the North Island.
Moving to Leinster (2024–2025)
In 2024, Jordie signed a six-month contract with Leinster in Ireland. He joined them for the 2024–25 United Rugby Championship season. He made his debut for Leinster on December 8, 2024, scoring a try from the bench in a Champions Cup game.
On December 22, 2024, he earned his first "Player of the Match" award for Leinster. In April 2025, he was nominated for the Champions Cup Player of the Year award. In his final game with Leinster, he helped them win the 2025 United Rugby Championship Grand Final, scoring one of their four tries.
