Jordi Llopart Ribas (born May 5, 1952 – died November 11, 2020) was a famous Spanish race walker. He was known for his amazing achievements in the sport. Jordi made history for Spain in athletics.
He competed in the 50 kilometer race walk event. He took part in the Olympic Games in 1980, 1984, and 1988. In 1980, he won a silver medal at the Moscow Olympics. This silver medal was very special. It was Spain's very first medal ever in athletics at the Olympics! Jordi was also a European champion in race walking in 1978.
Jordi's Amazing Career
Jordi Llopart was a top race walker from Spain. He competed in many big events around the world. His dedication helped him win important medals.
European Champion
In 1978, Jordi showed he was one of the best. He competed at the European Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He won the gold medal in the 50 kilometer race walk. His winning time was 3 hours, 53 minutes, and 29.9 seconds. This made him a European champion!
Olympic Success
Two years later, in 1980, Jordi went to the Olympic Games in Moscow, Soviet Union. He competed in the 50 kilometer race walk. He finished second and won a silver medal! This was a huge moment for Spanish sports. It was the first time Spain had ever won an athletics medal at the Olympics. His time was 3 hours, 51 minutes, and 25 seconds.
Jordi also competed in two more Olympic Games. In 1984, he was at the Los Angeles Olympics in the United States. He finished in 7th place in the 50 kilometer race walk. In 1988, he competed at the Seoul Olympics in South Korea. There, he finished 13th in the same event.

Throughout his career, Jordi took part in many other major competitions:
- In 1982, he was 6th at the European Championships in Athens, Greece.
- In 1983, he competed in the World Race Walking Cup in Norway, finishing 4th. He also raced at the World Championships in Finland.

- In 1986, he placed 9th at the European Championships in Germany.
- In 1987, he was 14th at the World Race Walking Cup in New York City. He also competed at the World Championships in Rome, Italy.
- In 1990, he raced at the European Championships in Yugoslavia.
- In 1991, he finished 17th at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Jordi Llopart passed away on November 11, 2020, at the age of 68. He is remembered as a pioneering athlete for Spain.
