Jorge Iván Solís Pérez (born October 23, 1979) is a former professional boxer from Mexico. He was known by his nickname Coloradito, which means "Colorful." Jorge is also the brother of Ulises Solís, who was a champion in the International Boxing Federation (IBF). During his career, Jorge Solís held several important boxing titles in Mexico.

Jorge Solís's Boxing Journey
Starting His Professional Career
Jorge Solís began his professional boxing career in 1998 when he was 19 years old. His first fights usually took place in Mexico. On February 6, 1998, he had his very first professional fight. He won this fight by a technical knockout (TKO), which means the referee stopped the fight because one boxer could not continue safely.
His first fight in the United States was on September 2, 2000, in El Paso, Texas. He won this fight in the sixth round, also by TKO.
Winning Mexican Titles
On October 27, 2001, Jorge Solís fought for the Mexican Super Bantamweight Championship. He won this title and successfully defended it multiple times against other boxers.
In June 2003, Solís fought for the WBC Latin America Super Featherweight Title. That fight ended in a draw, meaning neither boxer won.
In September 2004, Solís had a fight with future champion Humberto Soto. This fight ended in a "no contest." This happened because Solís got a cut from an accidental clash of heads, and the fight had to be stopped.
Big Fights and Challenges
Facing Manny Pacquiao
On April 14, 2007, Jorge Solís had a big fight against Manny Pacquiao in San Antonio, Texas. At that time, Pacquiao was a very famous champion. Solís put up a strong fight and made it challenging for Pacquiao. However, Pacquiao was too powerful and won the fight by knockout in the eighth round. In the Philippines, this exciting match was called The Blaze of Glory.
After the fight with Pacquiao, Jorge Solís continued to box. He won his next fight by TKO in Guadalajara, Mexico. In January 2009, he won another important fight by TKO, which helped him get closer to an IBF title shot.
Challenging Cristóbal Cruz
On July 11, 2009, Solís challenged Cristobal Cruz for the IBF featherweight title. Solís had beaten Cruz before, but this time, Cruz won the fight by a unanimous decision. During the fight, points were taken away from both boxers for breaking rules.
After this fight, Solís moved up to the Super Featherweight division. He won the WBA interim Super Featherweight title by TKO. He then successfully defended this title in May 2010.
Fight Against Yuriorkis Gamboa
On March 26, 2011, Solís got a chance to fight Yuriorkis Gamboa, who was a unified champion. Gamboa showed amazing boxing skills and won the fight by knockout in the fourth round.
