José Angela Aguilar (1898–1965) was a talented Native American artist. His Pueblo name was Sah Pah. He was a painter and a potter from the San Ildefonso Pueblo tribe.

A Talented Pueblo Artist

José Angela Aguilar was a skilled painter. He created many two-dimensional artworks. He also decorated many pots. These pots were often made by his wife, Rosalie Simbola, and his mother, Susana Aguilar. His beautiful artwork can be seen in important museums. These include the Hearst Museum of Anthropology and the Museum of the American Indian.

His Artistic Family

In 1922, Aguilar married Rosie Simbola. She was from the Picurís tribe. They had several children who also became famous artists. His sons, José Vicente Aguilar and Alfred Aguilar, followed in their father's footsteps.
