Hollywood Years
Movie bosses at MGM thought José Crespo looked a lot like the American actor John Gilbert. Because of this, Crespo often got roles that John Gilbert played in the English versions. The two actors became good friends.
Moving to Mexico
Later, movie studios stopped making separate Spanish versions. Instead, they started using "dubbing." This means they would record new voices in Spanish and add them to the original English movies. Because of this change, José Crespo moved to Mexico. He continued his acting career there.
