José Gómez Lucas (born January 9, 1944 – died June 14, 2014) was a famous Spanish cyclist. He was known for competing in the Olympic Games. His cycling career as a professional lasted from 1969 to 1975.

José Gómez Lucas first competed as an amateur cyclist. He took part in the 1968 Olympic Games held in Mexico. In that event, he finished in sixteenth place.

As a professional cyclist, José Gómez Lucas achieved several important victories.

  • In 1970, he won the Tour of Andalusia. This was one of his most well-known wins.
  • In 1971, he won a stage and the overall title at the Vuelta a Mallorca.
  • In 1972, he won the Klasika Spring race.
  • Also in 1972, he won a stage during the Tour of Aragon.

José Gómez Lucas also took part in the famous Tour de France race. He competed in the Tour de France in both 1971 and 1973. However, he had to leave both races early and did not finish them.

José Gómez Lucas passed away in Madrid, Spain, on June 14, 2014. He was 70 years old when he died.
