José Luis Zumeta Etxeberria (born in Guipúzcoa, Spain on April 19, 1939 – died in San Sebastián, Spain around April 22, 2020) was a Spanish painter. He was famous for his abstract art style. Abstract art uses shapes, colors, and lines instead of showing things exactly as they look in real life.

José Luis Zumeta traveled to different cities like Stockholm and London between 1962 and 1963. He lived there for some time, learning and growing as an artist.

In 1966, he helped start a group called the Basque School of art. This group included other well-known artists like Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida, and Nestor Basterretxea.

Many people think José Luis Zumeta was one of the most important Basque painters who started their careers after World War II. His paintings are now kept in important museums in the Basque Country and in other countries around the world.

Zumeta's art was shown in many places. In 2002, he had an exhibition of his work at Haim Chanin Fine Arts in New York. This was a big achievement for him.
