José Oscar Bernardi (born June 20, 1954), known simply as Oscar, is a famous Brazilian former football player. He played as a defender, meaning his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals.
Oscar was a key player for the Brazil national football team. He started in defense at the 1978 FIFA World Cup and 1982 FIFA World Cup. He was also a reserve player in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He played almost 60 games for Brazil and scored two goals. At the club level, he played for São Paulo and Ponte Preta in Brazil.
He also played for the American team New York Cosmos in 1980. Later, he joined the Japanese team Nissan FC from 1987 to 1989. After he stopped playing professionally, Oscar became a football coach for several clubs in Japan and Brazil. Today, he runs a special training center for athletes in Monte Sião, Brazil. In 2007, Oscar Bernardi even started his own football club called Brasilis Futebol Clube.
