José Varacka (born May 27, 1932 – died October 22, 2018) was a famous Argentine football player and coach. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and became known for his skills as a Midfielder.

Who Was José Varacka?

José Varacka was a talented football player who later became a successful coach. He played for some of the biggest teams in Argentina and represented his country in major international tournaments. His career spanned many years, showing his dedication to the sport.

Playing for Top Clubs

Varacka started his football journey in 1952 with Independiente, one of Argentina's "big five" teams. A memorable moment in his early career was in 1954. He played and even scored in an amazing 6–0 victory against the famous Spanish team, Real Madrid.

In 1960, he moved to another giant club, River Plate, where he played for six seasons. After his time at River Plate, Varacka joined San Lorenzo de Almagro in 1966. He then finished his playing career abroad, playing for Colo-Colo in Chile and Miraflores in Peru.

Representing Argentina

José Varacka was also a key player for the Argentine national team. He proudly represented his country in two FIFA World Cup tournaments: the 1958 World Cup and the 1966 World Cup.

He also played in the Copa América, which is a major football competition for South American national teams. He participated in the 1956 and 1959 Copa América tournaments. In 1964, he played in the Copa de Las Naciones, a special tournament held in Brazil.

Life as a Coach

After retiring as a player, Varacka began a new chapter as a football coach. His first coaching job was with Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata in 1968.

Over the years, he managed several well-known clubs, including two of Argentina's biggest rivals: Boca Juniors and River Plate. He also coached other teams like Atlanta and Atlético Junior in Colombia. His coaching career showed his deep understanding and love for the game.

His Final Years

José Varacka passed away on October 22, 2018, in his hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 86 years old. He left behind a legacy as a respected player and coach in Argentine football history.
