Josep Antoni Coderch i de Sentmenat (born in Barcelona, Spain, on November 26, 1913 – died in Barcelona, November 6, 1984) was a very important Spanish architect. He is known as one of the most influential architects after World War II.
Becoming an Architect
Josep Coderch began studying architecture in 1932. He attended the Barcelona School of Architecture. He finished his studies and graduated in 1940. After graduating, he worked with other architects in Madrid.
In 1942, Coderch opened his own architecture office. He worked with Manual Valls. Later, he became the city architect for Sitges, a town in Spain. There, he designed buildings like the Civil Guard garrison.
Coderch also joined important groups of architects. He became a member of the CIAM. In 1960, he joined a special group called Team 10. These groups helped shape new ideas in architecture.
